In the 62nd year of the Republic of China (1973), Lunbei Township, Yunlin County, established Taiwan's first dairy farming zone. Lunbei is located not near the mountains or the sea but there is a monsoon blowing place, which is an ideal dairy farming environment. Taiwan's dairy industry originated in 1896, when Japan introduced foreign breeds of dairy cows and supplied them to wounded soldiers. After the war, in order to revitalize the rural economy, the government set up dairy farming zones in barren areas and introduced technology to increase production. In 1972, high-quality Dutch breeding cows were introduced from New Zealand, and the development accelerated. Under the guidance of the government, dairy farmers have gradually formed four major regions, in addition to Lunbei, Changhua Fubao, Tainan Liuying, and Pingtung Banten have their own characteristics. 

民國62年（1973）雲林縣崙背鄉成立台灣第一酪農專區。崙背位處不靠山不靠海卻有季風吹拂之地，是理想乳牛養殖環境。台灣乳業起源於1896年，日本引進洋種乳牛，供應給傷兵。戰後，政府為振興農村經濟，在貧瘠地區成立酪農專區，導入技術提升產量。1972年從紐西蘭引進優質荷蘭種乳牛，加速發展。政府輔導下，酪農逐漸形成四大區域，除崙背外，彰化福寶、台南柳營、屏東萬丹各有其特色。
